Employment Opportunity - Medical Office Administrator

Millbrook First Nation is seeking a Medical Office Administrator to work in Millbrook, Nova Scotia. This is a permanent full-time position. The successful candidate would be required to work 32 hours per week (9:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday). The Medical Office Administrator is under the direct supervision of the Director of Health Services. The successful candidate must have proven skills in scheduling appointments for multiple staff, proficiency in the use of all aspects of electronic medical records (specifically, billing, referrals, filing), computer operations, and they must enjoy interacting appropriately and professionally with all members of the multidisciplinary medical team, including but not limited to the physician, nurses, allied health staff, etc., as well as community members and be able to adapt to and overcome unforeseen circumstances.

The successful candidate would ideally possess the following qualifications:

  • Diploma in Medical Office Administration.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Medical Office Administration.

  • Experience with Nightengale or Med Access Electronic Medical Records. 

  • Proven ability in multi-tasking, problem solving, time management, telephone etiquette, professionalism, efficiency, flexibility, reliability, organization, billing through MSI, and data entry.

  • Valid CPR certification, and either Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid certification.

  • Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search clearance.

  • Child Abuse Registry clearance.

  •  Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • General knowledge of Mi’kmaq culture and issues on the Millbrook First Nation.

  • Preference will be given to Millbrook Band Members of Mi’kmaq descent.

Salary:$16-$22 per hour (TBD based on qualifications and experience)
